1/76 Scale OO Gauge 3D Printable Model - RAF General Service Aircraft Shed (Belfast Truss)

Recreate a piece of aviation history with this highly detailed 1/76 scale OO gauge 3D printable model of a Royal Air Force General Service Aircraft Shed. Inspired by the historic hangar at East Harling, Norfolk, this model features the iconic Belfast Truss roof, a distinctive design that has been a symbol of RAF airfields since 1916.

Perfect for model railway enthusiasts, historical dioramas, and collectors of aviation memorabilia, this Belfast Truss aircraft shed model is a must-have addition to your collection.

Key Features:
Authentic Belfast Truss Roof: This model faithfully replicates the Belfast Truss roof structure, first introduced in 1917. Known for its strong lattice design, the Belfast Truss became a hallmark of General Service Aircraft Sheds used throughout WWI and WWII by the Royal Flying Corps (RFC) and Royal Air Force (RAF).

Customizable Modular Design: Designed in modular sections, this RAF aircraft hangar model allows you to assemble it in different lengths. Build a small hangar or extend it to create a larger structure to fit your layout or diorama. Customizable hangar size adds versatility to your model.

Alternate Rear Wall Option: The model comes with an optional rear wall, allowing you to choose between a solid rear wall or a dual set of hangar doors. This customization gives you flexibility in replicating different layouts for historical accuracy.

Inspired by Historic East Harling Hangar: The design of this General Service Aircraft Shed is based on the real hangar still standing in East Harling, Norfolk, a perfect example of the Belfast Truss style. This historical link makes the model ideal for WWI and WWII aviation enthusiasts.

High Detail 3D Printable Model: The model is carefully designed for 3D printing, ensuring intricate details such as the lattice roof, brick and timber posts, and realistic hangar doors. Once printed, this model will be a high-quality addition to your model railway, aviation diorama, or historical collection.

Historical Significance:
The General Service Aircraft Sheds (or Belfast Truss hangars) were introduced in 1916 and became a staple of RAF airfields during both World Wars. The Belfast Truss roof design, adopted in 1917, allowed these sheds to house aircraft safely and efficiently. The later versions featured brick and timber wall posts, replacing the original timber cladding. The modular design also made these hangars suitable for coupled sheds, offering space for multiple aircraft.

This model brings that rich history to life, making it perfect for any WWI and WWII aviation display, model train layout, or as a historical collectible.

Note: This is a 3D printable model. The model files will be provided for you to print and assemble according to your preferences.
